Keeley's Mom's Painting When Keeley and her dad move to the brand-new town of Frank, Alberta, everything is unfamiliar. Keeley wants make their small apartment in the rooming house feel a little bit like home, so she carefully unpacks a few of her mother's paintings. They are colourful and show the beautiful Alberta landscape. Keeley is very proud of these paintings and they are a reminder of her mother, who passed away. She decides to hang them around their apartment. Do you think painting landscapes is difficult? Would you like a painting hanging up in your room? You can make your very own by following the activity below. To do this activity you'll need to ask an adult for some help. Materials
Instructions 1. Take the paper and draw a landscape scene of your choice. You can draw mountains, a lake, horses in a field, a boat -- whatever you choose. 2. Ask an adult to help you find 4 sticks to build the frame with. They will need to be a little bit longer than the length of your piece of paper. 3. Take the wool and weave it around two of the sticks like the image to the left of these instructions. This will tie the sticks together. Do the same with all four corners of your frame. 4. Take a small piece of wool and make a loop in the centre of the stick. This will enable you to hang the painting and frame. Tape the painting to the frame at the back so the tape won't show. 5. Ask an adult to help you hang the frame. |
