Our Canadian Girl Series Activities The Our Canadian Girl series offers a great opportunity to get your students working on creative exercises and writing assignments. Here are a few suggestions for encouraging your students to use their imaginations and learn how to communicate effectively. Historical Character Profiles Get students engaged in history by making the past personal -- invite students to imagine a boy or girl living in another time period. Ask students to write a character profile of a boy or girl who lived in a historical period of interest. Students may wish to draw their imagined historical character as well. Book Reports Have students prepare a short report on each of the books in the Our Canadian Girl series. Reports can include:
Letter Writing Have your class write a letter to an Our Canadian Girl author or the series editor and send it care of: Penguin Books Canada c/o Our Canadian Girl Fan Mail 10 Alcorn Ave., Suite 300 Toronto, ON M4V 3B2 Ask your students to share what they like about Our Canadian Girls and what exciting chapters in Canada's history they would like to read about in future books.
